Partners working to save our democracy
What we do
Seniors for the Constitution & Des Moines Indivisible work hand-in-hand to oppose the day-by-day erosion of democracy in the United States and to hold up the US Constitution and the Rule of Law. Our efforts include four things:
- Our most visible, of course, are our PEACEFUL rallies. Seniors for the Constitution usually gathers at the Big Catch Plaza (corner of S 216th St and Marine View Drive in Des Moines) on the first and third Saturdays of the month from noon to 2 p.m. but this changes when national rallies do not coincide with those dates. Special days may call for special actions. All our rallies are posted on https://www.mobilize.us/. Des Moines Indivisible usually rallies at the same location on Wednesdays from 3 - 5 p.m. They'll create special events in different locations, too.
- Seniors for the Constitution coordinates postcard, letter, and phone campaigns as needs arise.
- Both organizations seek to to encourage civil dialogue through positive-conversation trainings and events.
- On this website we share resources and toolboxes that have come to our attention.
How you can help
- Well, of course you are always welcome at our rallies. Bring your own posters, borrow one here, or make one on site. Check in at www.mobilize-us to see our events.
- If you'd like to commit more deeply, contact one of us, whichever is of most interest to you. (There is no age qualification to be a "Senior," just a particular interest/concern to join your voice with seniors who are not taking the erosion of democracy from their rocking chairs.)

Seniors for the Constitution was founded in March, 2025, by a group of senior citizens who could no longer bear doing nothing. Their kids, their grandkids and great-grandkids, the democracy they had grown up in, were all too important. They wanted to join the millions of others in this country who won't stand by while oligarchs take over
Seniors for the Constitution was founded in March, 2025, by a group of senior citizens who could no longer bear doing nothing. Their kids, their grandkids and great-grandkids, the democracy they had grown up in, were all too important. They wanted to join the millions of others in this country who won't stand by while oligarchs take over the country. Having organized at an opportune time, they joined in on
Hands-Off Day and No Kings Day, having 1600 people gather for the latter. Of course
their regular demonstrations are smaller,
attracting an average of 200 persons.
They sponsored a series of Conversation Cafes to practice civil dialogue and post about 100 postcards per month
to encourage voters and candidates.

Another group of Des Moines (WA) activists began organizing at about the same time. They decided to affiliate with Indivisible and thus became Des Moines Indivisible. When the two groups became aware of each other it seemed only natural to collaborate in every way possible. They share a mailing list of nearly 1000, co-sponsor big events,
