Partners working to save our democracy

Seniors for the Constitution & Des Moines Indivisible work hand-in-hand to oppose the day-by-day erosion of democracy in the United States and to hold up the US Constitution and the Rule of Law. Our efforts include four things:

Seniors for the Constitution was founded in March, 2025, by a group of senior citizens who could no longer bear doing nothing. Their kids, their grandkids and great-grandkids, the democracy they had grown up in, were all too important. They wanted to join the millions of others in this country who won't stand by while oligarchs take over

They wanted to join the millions of others in this country who won't stand by while oligarchs take over the country. Having organized at an opportune time, they joined in on
Hands-Off Day and No Kings Day, having 1600 people gather for the latter. Of course
their regular demonstrations are smaller,
attracting an average of 200 persons.
They sponsored a series of Conversation Cafes to practice civil dialogue and post about 100 postcards per month
to encourage voters and candidates.

Another group of Des Moines (WA) activists began organizing at about the same time. They decided to affiliate with Indivisible and thus became Des Moines Indivisible. When the two groups became aware of each other it seemed only natural to collaborate in every way possible. They share a mailing list of nearly 1000, co-sponsor big events,
