Under the leadership of Carol Hosler, who was notably arrested at the Pentagon in 1969 while demonstrating against the Vietnam War, Seniors for the Constitution was founded in March 2025 by a group of senior citizens dedicated to democracy advocacy. These individuals felt compelled to take action for the sake of their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and for the democracy they cherished. They aimed to join the millions in the country, including groups like Des Moines Indivisible, who refuse to remain passive while oligarchs threaten their way of life. With an opportune organization, they participated in Hands-Off Day and No Kings Day, attracting 1,600 attendees at the latter event. Their regular demonstrations tend to draw around 250 participants, showcasing a committed effort in senior citizen activism. Additionally, they have sponsored a series of Conversation Cafes to foster civil dialogue and mail out approximately 100 postcards each month to encourage voter engagement and support candidates aligned with their values.
